The cottages are an excellent location for social distancing and the wonderful North Yorkshire air will blow away the cobwebs and invite you to come back to a comfortable, warm cottage and relax in your own space.

Nestled on a farmstead in the North York Moors National Park at the lower end of Farndale, famous for its wild daffodils, Surprise View Cottages have been converted from barns alongside the historic buildings which were once a mill and tannery. The farmhouse and cottages are set with the backdrop of the moors behind.

The cottages are on a small working farm keeping cattle and sheep (not pigs or cows), which has been farmed by our family for over 200 years!

The cottages sit by the River Dove in the beautiful and stunning, sun-soaked valley.

Surprise View Cottage has flower troughs bordering the small mill race running along one side and a South-facing paved patio area. A small balcony looks over a fenced lawned area to fields, woods and the valley of Farndale.

Field Barn Cottage stands in the field up the hill, enjoying panoramic views over fields, woods and the moorland edge. It has a Gold Award rating from Visit England. Sleeps up to 4 - 1 double with king-size bed and 1 twin, cot and high chair available. Full oil-fired central heating and log flame electric stove in the lounge. Large, smart TV with freeview, DVD, CD/radio, telephone, free wi-fi.

Full-sized electric oven with gas hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer. Garden furniture, ample parking space, safe storage for bicycles in an outbuilding at the farm (50 yards).

Pets are welcome (by arrangement).

Surprise View Cottages are central for cycling, walking and touring the area; they are only 25 miles from York, Whitby, Scarborough and the east coast resorts. They have a wealth of historic abbeys, churches and castles on their doorstep as well as major attractions like Castle Howard, North York Moors Railway, Flamingoland and the Great Dalby forest.

Shops, services and attractions in the nearby Market towns of Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside and Pickering give days of happy browsing.
